Shabbat Shira
Rooms, Rates, and Travel

The fee for Shabbat Shira includes lodging on camp at OSRUI, meals, and all programming and materials.

In years past, OSRUI ran the operations of Shabbat Shira; their expenses were part of their annual camp budget. As Sing Unto God is now the sole producer of the program, we are responsible for all fees, program materials, and expenses.

The cost is slightly higher than in 2019 based on the rental fees SUG owes OSRUI for every room and all meals, as well as for the cost of teachers and staff, materials, and operations.

TRAVEL

Location

Shabbat Shira takes place at Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute, the regional camp of the Union for Reform Judaism in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, located between Milwaukee and Madison, about 120 miles north of Chicago.

Air

The nearest airport is Milwaukee, Wisconsin (MKE - General Mitchell International Airport), a 50-minute drive from camp. We begin Thursday December 1st at 4pm, and conclude around 11:30am Sunday December 4th. The best time to arrive at the Milwaukee Airport for the program is on Thursday between 10:30am and 2:30pm.  We suggest making airline reservations to depart on Sunday after 2:00pm. Of course, if you need to leave early, we will understand! Please note: there are no refunds or cost adjustments if your flight arrangements don't work out as planned. Plan accordingly.

Van transportation from the Milwaukee Airport to OSRUI

We have information about ground transportation. There is a shuttle service called GoRightWay where you can reserve a car, or a small van for multiple passengers. The vans require a single person to reserve, and then you are responsible for filling the seats. Please contact Rose Snitz for information about connecting with other travelers to fill these vans.

Driving Directions

Driving directions between Milwaukee airport and camp are available here

Additional Transit Options

Some participants choose to fly into O’Hare.  Please note that the camp is a 2-hour drive from O’Hare Airport  (ORD) in Chicago and shuttles and other means of transportation can be expensive.  You can rent a car or find someone coming from the Chicago area from whom to hitch a ride.

We encourage those who are looking for rides or who are offering to share their ride to indicate their interest by posting in the Shabbat Shira Facebook group.
