Hava Nashira is a decades-long program built by Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI) and URJ Camping. The URJ maintains its historic commitment to the program and supports it through a sole sponsorship.

The program has evolved over its 30 years. From about 20 people in 1992 to over 200 in 2021 and from a focus solely on camp songleading in the Reform Movement, to the addition of music for children and families, deep spiritual worship and percussion, chant and new sounds in Jewish life, the program always grows to meet the current and future vision of singing in Jewish spaces.

It now sits at an intersection of movements, of expressions of Jewish living, and gathers teachers from across the Jewish (and non-Jewish) world, along with participants who value gathering to share the best thinking about where worship and communal singing can take sacred gatherings.

This year, we are planning to celebrate 30 years with time for reflection and honor, while continuing to welcome new guests who can share new ways of creating communal singing experiences, songleading, worship, and justice leading. Our teachers are gathered from a wide pool of expert educators, musicians, spiritual leaders, and artists.

Hava Nashira invites its community to become translators—translators of the powerful repertoire, learning, and worship styles presented during the conference back to the unique needs of your own communities and organizations.  The program and teaching staff is committed to not only nourishing the souls of those who attend with joyful and uplifting prayer and song sessions, but also to giving you the skills, the resources, and the best principles to bring home to your teams to move your sacred communities along on their journey toward more meaningful worship and richer communal singing, in a way that meets the unique needs of your place.

One significant difference from years past (pre-pandemic) is that there is NO LIMIT to the number of attendees who can participate. OSRUI's new building can accommodate the many who want to learn and connect, to create community and take inspiration, repertoire, and new tools back to their communities. We hope our longtime attendees will introduce their colleagues and friends who have never been able to attend Hava Nashira to this wonderful conference experience.

While there are limited beds on camp, we will have plentiful and convenient hotel block options, with shuttle service for those who do not want to stay on camp (in roommate only situation) or who register after all the camp beds are taken.

Please make sure to join our Hava Nashira Facebook page to stay connected and meet newcomers. This is a great place for you to find a roommate, arrange group transportation, and crowdsource resources.

We encourage people to become a member of Sing Unto God to have access to early registration and limited inventory of on-camp housing, as well as to support our vision of offering Hava Nashira-like learning year-round.

For our regulars, you can look forward to the learning, music, connection and rejuvenation you cherish. For new attendees, you will be welcomed into this diverse, creative, and compassionate community, experience the unique power of the Hava Nashira, and be strengthened to bring the work back to your home community in meaningful ways.

At its heart, Hava Nashira is about building community. We look forward to building it with you.
